Contemporary Public Infrastructure in the Historic City of Prizren

The Marash Park project focuses on the revitalization of a small public space along the Lumbardhi river in Prizren. The intervention began with the ecological rehabilitation of the site: approximately 30 cm of degraded soil was removed and replaced with nutrient-rich soil to improve the health of the landscape. Existing trees were carefully preserved and pruned, while several were relocated to improve spatial balance without removing any mature trees.

The area was cleaned and reorganized, including the repositioning of porous stone elements that are characteristic of the site. The existing amphitheatre was upgraded with iroko wood cladding to provide more comfortable seating, while the green area in front of it was transformed into a small open stage for public events and community gatherings.

New natural grass in roll form was installed, together with a four-season irrigation system to ensure long-term landscape sustainability. Additional waste bins and benches, designed to match the existing park furniture, were introduced to improve functionality while maintaining the identity of the space.

Landscape design was developed in collaboration with landscape designer Arzu Keçeli.
