“Color Your Prizren” is conceived as a cultural and educational project that reimagines how heritage can be introduced to younger generations. Rather than positioning cultural heritage as something to be observed from a distance, the project transforms it into an interactive and participatory experience.

Through a multidisciplinary approach, the book brings together architecture, illustration, and storytelling, creating a format where learning is driven by curiosity and engagement. The intention is to shift the perception of heritage—from static knowledge to an experience that can be explored, interpreted, and made personal.

At the center of this experience is the character Reni, developed as a narrative guide throughout the book. Reni introduces the journey, invites the reader to participate, and establishes a direct and personal connection with each child. By allowing space for the reader to insert their own name, the book becomes individualized, transforming each interaction into a personal exploration of cultural heritage.

The structure of the book is based on a dual-layer system. Illustrated representations of cultural heritage sites are paired with short explanatory texts, enabling a simultaneous process of visual interpretation and knowledge acquisition. This approach encourages children to engage with heritage both intellectually and creatively.

The project places strong emphasis on inclusivity and accessibility. By presenting the content in five local languages, it ensures equal access to knowledge and reflects the cultural diversity of the context in which it is developed. This multilingual approach reinforces the importance of representation and shared cultural ownership.

The illustrations are developed with a focus on precision, detail, and emotional resonance, translating architectural and cultural elements into a visual language that remains both accurate and approachable. Each element is carefully considered to maintain a balance between educational clarity and visual engagement.

The visual identity of the book, including cover design and layout, was developed by Lart Design Studio in close collaboration with Unor, resulting in a cohesive and refined publication.

Completed in 2022 and supported by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport of Kosovo (MKRS), the project positions itself as a model for how design can act as a mediator between heritage and future generations.

At Unor, the project is understood as a process of translating heritage into experience—where learning, creativity, and identity intersect.
